Knowing your skin type is essential building a healthy skincare routine, select correct products to develop flawless, healthy skin.


Determine your skin type with these steps below:


1. Examine the T-zone


The T-zone is the region on your face that includes your forehead and the nose. The forehead forms the top of the T while your nose forms the bottom. Pat your T-zone with a tissue paper for a couple of minutes. If there is oil present on the tissue, then your skin is either oily or a combination skin.


2. Notice your skin


Pay attention to your skin and how it feels when you apply skincare products.

Oily skin can feel greasy throughout the day and be prone to acne.

Sensitive skin reacts to products and may cause itchiness or redness.

Dry skin can appear as dry scales on your skin or white patches on your face.

Combination skin type is a combination of both dry and oily.

Paying attention to how your skin feels can help determine your skin type.


3. Apply pressure on your skin


If your skin goes rough and wrinkled when you pinch it or press it, you are likely to have a dry skin or combination skin. Oily skin will feel smooth after pressure is applied.



4. Consult a Dermatologist


This is the surest way to know your skin type. If you cannot tell which skin type you have, book an appointment with a dermatologist determine your skin type.


How to Treat Different Skin type


  • Apply moisturizer

Dry skin lacks enough moisture. Moisturizing your skin frequently can avoid the risk of having dermatitis. After bathing, apply a generous amount moisturizer to the skin.


  • Cleanse twice a day

For oily skin, cleanse morning and night. Avoid using oily skin products. Use an oil-free moisturizer. Use paper to blot excessive oil from your face.


  • Use a balanced treatment for combination skin

Since combination skin has the qualities of a dry and oily skin, find products that are specially made for combination skin. Use moisturizers for the dry parts of your skin and use oil free products for the oily part on your skin. Avoid soaps that contains harsh chemicals.


  • Use special products for sensitive skin

Sensitive skin is known to react to different cosmetics. To be on the safe, test products before applying them. Applying a small amount of the product behind your ear and leave for an hour to see how your skin reacts.
